to a house in edmonton, I got crummy speeds in the apt with the Hitron, tried the XB6 , still got crummy speed. then I highly doubt the XB6 is going to make a lick of difference. even after I did a reset (pushed reset button for 10s) I was able to solve it by actually holding down for 10s. I saw the modem reset and sure enough my wifi settings were reset however still no luck on the password.

I noticed a huge difference over the other modem offerings like the Hitron, where in other areas in my home the speeds were greatly improved over Wi-Fi and 5G, however you can re-produce this with any off the shelf router that isn't an absolute pile of garbage. You can then power off the C9 and the client device should then be able to reconnect seamlessly to the main network. If you want to use the modem in Gateway mode, running the network, and use the router as a switch, simply turn off the router firewall and DHCP server and wifi. That will hopefully prevent any issues where band steering is attempting to control the band that a particular device is running on, while you're connecting to, or already connected to the router, which is located somewhere else in the home.
