The best thing about Frankston is how close everything is to each other and how convenient it is to access it, regardless of your choice in transport whether it would be by car or public transport. There is a lot of money being spent on infrastructure such as mariners and major roads linking to the city. Peninsula Link Fwy and Eastlink (3 mins from our place) and Frankston Power Centre it's all just added bonus. From where we lived we had Karingal Hub 20 mins walking distance and Coles convenience store about 25 mins walking, both 4 mins drive, car engine doesn't even get warmed up before you arrive. I never heard of crimes, shooting, burn outs, stealing or drugs, but I did see drug dealing at Frankston station. Although in time I have no doubt that will clean up a little as well! My partner and I recently made the decision to move in together after living separately for 5 years. There are pockets of commission houses in Frankston and at time some mental health facilities. Frankston is a big area with very different classes of people.Frankston South is the hilly expensive part with elite schools,close to beach & some grand houses with big blocks.Frankston central where the station & CBD area get a lot of blow ins which can cause trouble but generally speaking during the day it's OK.I avoid the area because of parking not because of safety issues.A new Frankston train station is being built soon as well as the metro train line extension.Frankston East,Karingal area is the middle class area with Karingal Hub shopping centre & cinemas & good new freeway links.Frankston North is the old housing commission area which is cheap but OK.All the Frankston areas are undervalued for what they are so if you're a buyer get in as quick as you can & if your a seller wait 5 years.Frankston of old has been getting transformed over the past 15 years or so & is continuing to be.Compared to 15 years ago the riff raff are being priced out of the market.Most of the problems are from blow ins.Graffitti is an issue & petty vandalism.Drugs I haven't seen much around.Lots of parkland & beach to walk your dog or take your kids to playground or go for a bike ride.Climate is 4 degrees cooler in Summer than the rest of Melbourne due to seabreeze.Council is always finding ways to make life difficult for people with dog bans & beach parking restrictions & in CBD & they wonder why people won't start a businesses or shop there.Never really had an intelligent business friendly council in my 23 years here.Becoming a more multi cultural area.People who live in Frankston are generally down to earth. But we are close to the beach, the bush, the peninsula, not far from the surf beaches, and nowhere near the flight approach to any airport. great, I was doing some research on Frankston and Geelong because I`m moving next year to study in Australia. I am married and have two kids. It is very family focused and the wife (stay home mum), never runs out things to do with the kids. U really do get a lot for your money. It's full of trashed and wasted morons in the area along with a high presence of welfare bludgers. We have done nothing to it in that time and it has just been valued so that we can sell it and buy a bigger home. I was disappointed that to rent in my beloved town was going to cost more than my wage, and between us we would be living on rations with no gym membership or dinners out on the town, etc. Not very safe. Frankston City has everything you need, you literally don't have to go to the city for anything, and perhaps the best part is the beach. Then along came Frankston, the suburb that gave us hope! I found that i was very concerned for my safety as there were alot of hoons driving up and down the street and i really didnt feel that safe.
