A 52cm second-generation Domane SLR I rode in 2016 with a mechanical Shimano Ultegra 6800 drivetrain, hydraulic disc brakes, and aluminum clinchers came in at 8.31kg (18.32lb) without pedals. Granted, the latest incarnation of IsoSpeed on the second-generation Domane SLR was size-specific, too, but the one on the Domane SL was not, and neither was damped like this one is. I have to say that I left the launch feeling very impressed by what Trek has done here, and I applaud the courage it took to be willing to eat that weight penalty in the name of ride quality, capability, and versatility. A smaller rider, no matter their gender, can now choose from every model we offer in these performance lines.
A multi-tool holder is built into the hatch cover, but the tool itself isn’t included with the bike. Just like pretty much every bike out there in this price range, Ultegra is the order of the day and the kind-to-your-knees 50/34 gearing is matched to a wide 11-34 cassette.

The Domane was once more of a toned-down road bike with ultra-stable handling, a very relaxed rider position, and semi-wide tires — this new one is a thoroughly refined all-road machine with gobs of tire clearance, an even more refined ride quality, a T47 threaded bottom bracket, and some neat convenience features.

Simply put, it maintains the diamond-shaped geometry but ‘decouples’ the seat tube from the top tube, allowing the seat tube to flex with the lay of the road. In terms of fit, the new Domane is likely to be just as personal a choice as before.
The charts below show our recommended sizes based on height, but there are some other factors, like arm and leg length, that determine a great fit. The new third-generation Trek Domane is a far cry from the endurance road bike it was when it first debuted in 2012.

Frame geometry is wholly carried over from before, with the same “H3” fit used on the second-generation Domane range, which is noteworthy given the increase in tire clearance.
", "We’re truly in a special era in which it’s very difficult to make a bad bike, and even more difficult to stand out among the crowd. The alloy frame’s Endurance Geometry, IsoSpeed Carbon fork, and clearance for wide, fast-rolling tires make for a ride that’s smooth and speedy. The geometry’s been tweaked too, to a short reach at 380mm, with a mid-height 611mm stack for a 58cm-sized endurance bike.
IsoSpeed has never been an empty gimmick, and this latest incarnation sure does seem to be Trek’s best interpretation to date.
Unfortunately, unlike the Paradigm wheels, the tyres aren’t tubeless-compatible, so should you want to get the benefits of an inner tube-free ride, more versatility on tyre pressure, the elimination of pinch punctures and an ever-widening range of tyre options in the larger sizes the Domane can handle, you’ll need to replace them. First and foremost, consider the tire size. It’ll carve a tight line when needed, but you have to tell it to do so, not ask nicely.
